Speak Life into Your Hair Day 11
Perception
The Lamp of Your Body
"The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind], your whole body will be full of darkness [devoid of God’s precepts]. So if the [very] light inside you [your inner self, your heart, your conscience] is darkness, how great and terrible is that darkness!"
– Matthew 6:22-23
There is so much to unpack in these two scriptures that we could dwell on this topic for years! Perception shapes everything we experience in life, including how we see ourselves and our hair.
The Deception in Hair Perception
For many Black women, the perception of their hair has been distorted through historical oppression, societal conditioning, and spiritual iniquity. Our beliefs about hair have been passed down through generations, often rooted in pain, unforgiveness, and even anger toward the oppressor. But God is calling us to heal and be set free.
What Is Perception?
Perception is the lens through which we interpret the world. It is not just what we see physically but also what we believe spiritually. The eye is the lamp of the body — meaning our perception influences our thoughts, actions, and even our physical health.
If your perception is clear, your whole body is full of light. You experience peace, clarity, and alignment with God's truth.
If your perception is distorted, your whole body is full of darkness. Confusion, stress, and instability take over.
When it comes to hair, if your perception is unhealthy, your hair journey will reflect that disorder. A negative self-image, comparison, or frustration with your hair stems from deeper spiritual issues that must be addressed.
The Spiritual Science of Perception
God created our bodies with an intricate design where our thoughts and emotions directly impact our physical state.
How Perception Works in the Body:
Detection: Your senses (sight, touch, smell, etc.) detect information.
Transmission: Your brain processes and interprets this information.
Response: Your body reacts with physical or emotional responses.
Your belief system shapes how you interpret reality, which in turn affects how your body functions. Many diseases, including those related to hair loss and scalp issues, stem from stress, fear, and negative thought patterns.
The Brain & Spiritual Alignment
The brain was designed to predict the future based on past experiences. It was given senses to protect the body, but it was not meant to control or manipulate outcomes—controlling and manipulation is literally witchcraft.
Controlling things outside of God’s plan creates stress, disease, and disunity.
Your thoughts generate electrical charges that affect the atmosphere around you. If your thoughts and emotions are aligned with faith and God’s truth, they create power. If they are rooted in doubt and fear, they create separation and confusion.
The Heart: The Power Center of Manifestation
The heart has the strongest magnetic field in the body. It draws and attracts based on what you truly believe and feel. When your thoughts and emotions are in unity, you generate creative power. But when they are divided, you experience stagnation, frustration, and lack.
Love is the greatest power. When your heart and mind are united in love, you walk in abundance, healing, and wholeness.
Unforgiveness, bitterness, and fear block spiritual and physical healing. These emotions shrink the magnetic field God created to empower us.
You create your reality by what you believe. Your focus and attention determine what you manifest in your life.
Breaking Free: Aligning with God’s Truth
“Teach me Your ways, O Lord, so that I may walk in Your truth. Unite my heart to fear Your name.”
– Psalm 86:11
God created us as co-creators with Him. When we align our thoughts and emotions with His Word, we manifest His promises. But if we are emotionally reactive to our environment, we create chaos and stress instead of peace and abundance.
Day 11 Challenge: Healing from Unforgiveness and Trauma.
Trauma refers to a deeply distressing or overwhelming experience that can have lasting negative effects on a person's mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
It can manifest physically, even impacting your hair health. Telogen effluvium, a common form of hair loss, is often triggered by trauma, stress, or emotional distress.
Take a moment to pause, reflect, and surrender.
Sit in the presence of the Lord, lay your burdens at His feet, and allow His peace to restore you. Cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Release unforgiveness, pain, and fear, and invite God’s healing into every part of your being—spirit, soul, and body.
Journal Prompt: What past wounds or emotions do you need to release today? Write them down and pray over them, asking God to bring true healing and freedom.
Final Thoughts
Your perception shapes your reality. If you perceive through light and truth, you will walk in wholeness and abundance. But if your perception is rooted in darkness, fear, or lies, you will experience struggle and limitation.
Choose today to see through the lens of faith, love, and divine truth.
Your hair journey is not just physical; it’s spiritual. It’s time to shift your perception and walk in the fullness of what God has for you!
